Active Transport

Moving from a point of lesser concentration
To a point of higher density
Goes against the normal actions
Of expansions and contractions
Of the mobile society

In a small town, USA
Neighbors live far away
And don’t know what to say
To each other when they meet
Must move to city streets
Absorb the coastal heat

The concentration gradient is higher than before
Space is needed to expand
But no one leaves the crowded lights
After reaching fabled heights
Or exposing secret plans

Don’t diffuse into the countryside
Flow with the tide
Take no time to decide
If this is the way to go
Stay with the rest
To compete and do best
Or fail and see
That you’d rather be
In a small town, USA…
